Mutual investment funds will invest up to 50% of their capital in Bitcoin ETFs

Jan 4, 2024

A fan of cryptocurrencies, known as MartyParty, claims that mutual funds invest up to 50% of their assets in Bitcoin.

A pattern is emerging. Other funds registered as securities issuers [such as mutual funds] traded on the Nasdaq exchange are amending their prospectuses to allow them to invest 15-50% of their managed capital through Bitcoin ETFs.wrote MartyParty.

To support his claims, MartyParty presented a quote from the updated prospectus of the Advisors Preferred Trust fund.

In this document, it is noted that the organization has the ability to invest up to 15% of its portfolio in shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust. It is planned that the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust will be converted into an ETF based on spot Bitcoins - the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF, which will allow investments in Bitcoin futures and futures contracts.

Clearly, the interest of institutional investors in Bitcoin reflects their belief in the prospects of this cryptocurrency. For regular traders, this could mean an improvement in the digital asset market as institutions investing in spot Bitcoin ETFs will be required to acquire Bitcoins to back the ETF shares, which will increase demand and, consequently, boost the price of Bitcoin.
