The blockchain Avalanche (AVAX) has encountered technical issues similar to those previously observed in the Solana blockchain. According to the Avalanche status page, there was a disruption in block production due to delays in their finalization, hindering their acceptance into the main network. Kevin Sekniqi, co-founder of AVA Labs, indicated that the problem is likely related to recently introduced ordinals. This error, he said, is unexpected and requires immediate resolution, especially due to potential mempool processing issues affecting some unaccounted cases.
The situation worsened as the AVAX token's price dropped by 1.28%, increasing the weekly decline to 12%. In response to the issue, the Avalanche team urged validators to update their nodes to version Avalanchego v1.11.1 to disable a feature introduced in version 1.10.18, which led to excessive "gossip" exchange between validators. This feature, which distributed bandwidth among nodes based on stake weight, caused network overload with unnecessary transaction data.
