The sales of Pudgy Penguins toys, based on NFTs, have reached one million units

May 13, 2024

Over the past nine months, the Pudgy Penguins team has successfully sold over a million plush toys inspired by their NFT collection. These toys are now available in major retail chains such as Walmart and Target and will soon be launched in the Asian market.

Luca Netz, head of the Pudgy Penguins project, announced the successful sale of a million toys since their release in retail stores. He also shared plans for expansion into Asian markets.

This is my biggest commercial success per product unit in the consumer goods sector  commented Netz.

He specified that plush toys inspired by the Pudgy Penguins collection would soon be available in the inventory of specialized retailers in Asia, although he did not mention specific brands.

We see the results here and now. An ordinary guy like me was able to sell these toys through the world's largest retail networks added Netz.

Pudgy Penguins branded toys first appeared in Walmart stores in the USA in September 2023. In February 2024, the company announced an expansion of its partnership, adding toys to another 1,100 outlets. Additionally, the products are available in retail networks such as Target, Smiths, and Hot Topic, with toy prices ranging from $2.99 to $11.99.

Like the NFTs themselves, each toy has unique accessories and rarity elements, making each piece special. It is worth noting that the Pudgy Penguins collection recently surpassed projects like the Bored Apes Yacht Club in terms of minimum value and is among the top 10 largest NFT projects known as "blue chips."
