The X-account of CertiK company was hacked

Jan 5, 2024

On January 5th, Revoke Cash specialists reported a hack of the CertiK company's account, which specializes in smart contract security audits, on social network X. The attackers distributed a link to a fake Revoke website through this account, claiming there were issues with the Uniswap router contract and attempting to steal user funds. The community was advised not to interact with the CertiK profile and to avoid suspicious links. At the time of writing the article, the post had been deleted, and CertiK representatives had not commented on the incident.

This incident is one of several recent hacks in the cryptocurrency industry. Previously, the X account of Polychain Capital's founder and CEO Olaf Carlson-Wee was compromised, with attackers spreading phishing links and promoting an airdrop of the $PCHAIN token. The online broker Robinhood's account was also hacked to promote the fraudulent RBH token in the BNB Chain.

In the summer of 2023, the accounts of OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, the Aptos blockchain, and Uniswap creator Hayden Adams were hacked. Last year, the cryptocurrency industry suffered $1.8 billion in damages from hacking and fraud, according to Immunefi. These events highlight the importance of enhancing security and vigilance in the cryptocurrency space.
