Visa is taking a significant step towards integrating cryptocurrency into the gig economy by launching a pilot program that allows businesses to pay freelancers and gig workers directly in stablecoins. According to the official information, this initiative aims to streamline payment processes and enhance the speed at which workers receive their earnings.

Pilot Program Overview

The pilot program enables companies to fund payouts in traditional fiat currencies while recipients will receive a USD-pegged stablecoin, such as USDC, directly in their crypto wallets. This innovative approach is designed to drastically reduce the time it takes for workers to access their funds, with transactions expected to be completed within minutes, as opposed to the days typically required for bank wire transfers.

Testing and Future Plans

Currently, the pilot is being tested through Visa Direct, a service that operates in over 195 countries, indicating the company's commitment to expanding its reach in the digital payment landscape. If successful, Visa plans to roll out this service more broadly in the second half of 2026, pending necessary regulatory approvals. This move could mark a significant shift in how payments are processed in the gig economy, offering a faster and more efficient alternative to traditional banking methods.

In a notable development, Meta Earth recently launched its Global UBI Initiative in the Philippines, providing essential support to families in need. This initiative contrasts with Visa's efforts to enhance payment processes for gig workers, highlighting different approaches to economic empowerment. For more details, see read more.

Ethereum's Price Consolidation May Indicate Upcoming Breakout

chest

Ethereum is currently forming a consolidation pattern above the critical support zone of 3,450-3,500, signaling an ongoing battle between bulls and bears. For a confirmed shift in trend, bulls need a decisive close above 3,650, which would open the door for a potential rally towards 3,900-4,000. However, if Ethereum fails to hold the 3,400 support zone, it could face declines towards 3,100.
