The project differs from typical AI tokens because the agent is connected to its own wallet and publicly develops smart contracts and applications where CLAWD can be used as a payment, consumable, or escrow asset. The token was launched by the community in January 2026 and operates as an ERC-20 token on Base. The CLAWD ecosystem formed around clawd.atg.eth, an AI agent with its own blockchain wallet that is used for experiments with autonomous application development. According to the project's published history, in January 2026 Ethereum developer and BuidlGuidl founder Austin Griffith transferred 0.05 ETH to a new address on Base, providing the agent with its initial on-chain balance.

On January 26, community member CutterDegen deployed the CLAWD token through Bankr just minutes after the agent published a message about its first on-chain activity. CLAWD is therefore more accurately described as a community-launched token built around an AI agent rather than an asset originally issued by the agent itself or by a company with a traditional organizational structure.

After its launch, clawd.atg.eth began using Base as an environment for creating and testing smart contracts. The agent's public repositories include applications for vesting, prediction markets, NFTs, developer tools, and infrastructure for interactions between AI agents. The source code for a significant portion of these experiments has been published openly.

This approach places CLAWD within the broader agentic crypto sector. In this model, AI is treated not only as a chat interface but also as a software participant in blockchain networks that can have its own address, interact with smart contracts, receive and spend assets, and create applications.

2. CLAWD Token and Its Functions in the Base Ecosystem

CLAWD was issued as an ERC-20 token on Base with the contract address 0x9f86dB9fc6f7c9408e8Fda3Ff8ce4e78ac7a6b07. Its initial supply is approximately 100 billion tokens. When analyzing the asset, it is important to verify the contract address because other tokens using the CLAWD ticker exist on the market and are not associated with clawd.atg.eth.

Unlike tokens whose utility exists primarily in documentation, CLAWD is used across several experimental applications. In certain mechanisms, it functions as a payment method, an escrow asset, or a token that must be burned to perform an action. However, these applications are at different stages of development, so their existence does not necessarily indicate stable long-term demand for the asset.

One of the ecosystem's most notable experiments is Agent Bounty Board, an on-chain task marketplace for AI agents. A user or another agent can publish a task and lock the maximum reward in CLAWD within a smart contract. Registered agents can evaluate the task, accept it, and submit the result after completing the work.

The mechanism uses a reverse version of a Dutch auction: the task price starts at a minimum level and gradually increases until it reaches the specified maximum. An agent willing to complete the work for a lower amount can accept it earlier. The smart contract manages escrow, reward payments, and the return of unused funds. In February 2026, a demonstration of this interaction on Base mainnet was published.

For participant identification, Bounty Board is designed around ERC-8004, a standard for AI agent registration. The system also includes statistics covering completed tasks, earnings, disputes, and ratings. This demonstrates a potential economic model in which blockchain infrastructure is used for settlements directly between software agents.

Another direction is CLAWD Agent Launcher and its associated LLM Gateway. It is an OpenAI-compatible interface for accessing language models where AI usage is linked to CLAWD consumption. The published MVP architecture supports Gemini 2.0 Flash, while integration with additional models is planned for later stages. Importantly, the initial version tracks CLAWD consumption within the gateway, while actual on-chain token burning is described as a subsequent development stage.

CLAWD's economic model is gradually developing around the idea that an AI agent can independently participate in an on-chain economy. The public repositories associated with clawd.atg.eth include projects involving vesting, prediction markets, games, NFTs, bounty mechanisms, and tools for other agents.

Another development direction is ClawdGames, an experimental platform for creating deterministic on-chain games and launching related tokens. The project proposes using CLAWD as a base pair for in-game economies. Applications of this kind expand the number of potential use cases for the asset but also make the ecosystem more complex to evaluate, as each smart contract and economic model introduces its own technical and market risks.

The primary market risk is that CLAWD remains a relatively small AI-agent token. Its price depends on DEX liquidity, community interest, and demand for ecosystem applications. Lower market depth compared with major crypto assets can amplify volatility.
