Undead Blocks Season 4 is a seasonal stage in the development of Undead Blocks, a multiplayer Web3 shooter by Wagyu Games built around surviving waves of zombies. The game combines traditional FPS mechanics with NFT weapons, in-game ZBUX resources, and the UNDEAD token. After an extended restructuring period, Wagyu Games gained full control of the project in 2024 and began updating the game client, server infrastructure, and economy. However, a detailed standalone specification for Season 4 has not been published in the project's current documentation, so the season should be considered in the context of the active version of Undead Blocks and its current roadmap rather than as a separate game.

1. What Is Undead Blocks Season 4 and How the Game Is Evolving

Undead Blocks is a survival FPS in which players eliminate successive waves of zombies, earn experience, unlock weapons, and try to survive for as long as possible. The project was developed by Wagyu Games and was originally positioned as a free-to-play Web3 game with an additional reward system for NFT holders. Undead Blocks emerged during the rapid expansion of the play-to-earn sector, although its core gameplay remained based on the familiar zombie wave shooter format found in traditional games.

Early versions of Undead Blocks appeared in 2022. In March of that year, the project announced that it had raised $1.7 million through seed and private funding rounds led by Animoca Brands. The game later introduced multiplayer functionality, tournaments, NFT collections, and a daily reward system for Weapon Loadout holders.

The project's development has not followed a linear path. According to the updated whitepaper, after a break of approximately a year and a half and negotiations with the original team, full control of Undead Blocks was transferred to Wagyu Games in May 2024. The developers then began rebuilding the game's core systems. In 2025, the company announced a new build featuring updated gameplay, optimization improvements, map changes, and upgraded server infrastructure.

The seasonal model in Undead Blocks is primarily used for content updates, challenges, and digital items. Historically, the developers associated new seasons with separate Loot Coffin sets and skin collections. However, the details of Season 4 should be distinguished from the broader roadmap: not every feature planned for 2025–2026 should automatically be considered an already released component of the fourth season.

2. Undead Blocks Gameplay, Zombies, and Survival Modes

The main gameplay loop revolves around eliminating waves of enemies. In the standard mode, the character starts a match with a pistol and a combat knife. Players earn XP for kills, while accurate headshots provide additional experience. Accumulated points can be used to unlock weapons, equipment, perks, and new areas of the map.

Players need to manage ammunition, their distance from enemies, and available routes at the same time. Some areas are unlocked with XP, meaning the resources earned during a match must be distributed between weapons, upgrades, and access to new positions. As players progress, the waves become more difficult, gradually increasing the demands on equipment and tactics.

Key gameplay elements include:

  • survival against successive waves of zombies;
  • first-person shooting with bonus XP for headshots;
  • unlocking weapons and equipment during a match;
  • perks, grenades, and additional tools for fighting enemies;
  • unlocking new map areas with accumulated XP;
  • Massacre mode, where players aim to achieve the highest number of kills within a limited time;
  • VIP Mode for holders of eligible NFT Weapon Loadouts;
  • multiplayer mechanics and the development of Duos and Squads.

Massacre remains one of the main game modes and focuses on achieving the highest number of kills within a specified period. VIP Mode is connected to NFT weapon sets and the ZBOX system: after eliminating zombies, players have a chance to receive a container containing Standard or Gold ZBUX. The equipment available in VIP Mode depends on the contents of the player's Weapon Loadout.

The 2025–2026 roadmap includes further development of Duos and Squads, expansion of the Neighborhood, Mall, and Graveyard areas, as well as a mobile version. These features indicate the direction of development, but roadmap dates and mechanics should not be treated as confirmation of full implementation without a corresponding release.

3. NFT Weapons, ZBUX, and the In-Game Economy

The blockchain component of Undead Blocks is built around digital weapons and related items. Genesis and Apocalypse Weapon NFTs are used as in-game sets that provide access to specific features, including the VIP earning mechanic. Unlike purely cosmetic NFTs, a Weapon Loadout affects the arsenal available to the player in the corresponding mode.

Weapon Skins and Character Skins form a separate category. They are primarily designed to change the appearance of weapons and characters. Historically, skins were distributed through Loot Coffins, NFT containers holding items of different rarity levels. The project's documentation connects new Loot Coffin sets with the seasonal structure of Undead Blocks.

Component Purpose Role in the Ecosystem
Weapon Loadout NFT Digital weapon set Determines available weapons and is connected to VIP Mode
Weapon Skin NFT Cosmetic item Changes the appearance of weapons
Character Skin NFT Character appearance Used for customization
Standard ZBUX In-game resource Connected to the progression and upgrading of game assets
Gold ZBUX Reward-based in-game currency Used within the reward and purchase system
UNDEAD Cryptocurrency token Used in the project's economy and Web3 mechanics

Standard ZBUX is earned through game modes and linked to the player's account. The documentation describes it as a resource for developing Weapon Loadouts and obtaining additional items. Gold ZBUX serves a different function: the project assigns it an internal reference value of $0.10 and provides for its use within the reward system, skins, and other in-game assets.

It is important to distinguish these resources from a freely traded crypto token. ZBUX is part of the internal game economy, while UNDEAD exists as a blockchain asset. Therefore, the stated in-game value of Gold ZBUX does not mean that the market value of crypto assets associated with the project remains constant.

4. UNDEAD Token, Blockchain, and the Move to Avalanche

UNDEAD was historically created as the primary token of the Undead Blocks ecosystem. In the original model, it was assigned functions related to governance, staking, and payments for game assets. Wagyu Games later revised the economy and planned to strengthen the token's connection with the exchange of game rewards, weapon upgrades, special events, and other features.

The project's blockchain infrastructure has also changed over time. Early Weapon Loadouts were associated with Ethereum, while Undead Blocks used Immutable X for NFT skins, enabling transactions with gaming items without the standard Ethereum fees for every transaction. This architecture was characteristic of the project's earlier development stage.

In 2025, Wagyu Games announced a new infrastructure phase by expanding Undead Blocks to Avalanche. The company reported plans to move UNDEAD to Avalanche and use Blackhole DEX for one of its first listings within this ecosystem. It also announced the migration of the existing Weapon Skins collection from Immutable and the release of new Marksman, Hunter, and Demolitionist NFT sets.

This transition demonstrates that the blockchain layer of Undead Blocks is not static. The game client, NFTs, and token may use different technical components, while the underlying infrastructure changes as the project evolves. Users should therefore verify the current network and contract address before conducting any transaction rather than relying on older instructions for Ethereum or Immutable.

For the gameplay itself, the developers aim to reduce the need for blockchain interaction at the beginning of the user experience. The newer version allows players to create a Wagyu Games Account using an email address and start playing for free without being required to connect a wallet. Web3 functionality therefore becomes an additional economic layer on top of the FPS rather than a mandatory requirement for accessing the core gameplay.

5. Risks and Prospects of Undead Blocks Season 4

Undead Blocks has gone through several stages of development, including its early play-to-earn period, a development pause, the transfer of full control to Wagyu Games, and a subsequent relaunch. This creates an important consideration when analyzing the project: older whitepapers, articles, and tokenomics materials may describe mechanics that were later modified or postponed. This is particularly relevant to blockchain networks, NFT infrastructure, and the reward model.

The seasonal structure also requires careful interpretation. The documentation confirms the concept of new item collections for different seasons, but a detailed public specification for Season 4 containing a complete list of unique mechanics, dates, and rewards is absent from the currently available materials. It is therefore more accurate to evaluate the fourth season through the state of the main game and confirmed updates rather than automatically attributing roadmap features to it.

Economic risks are associated with UNDEAD, NFTs, and the dependence of rewards on ecosystem activity. The market value of the token and digital items can fluctuate significantly, while in-game utility does not guarantee NFT liquidity on secondary markets. Additional risks arise from asset migrations between networks and the use of smart contracts, wallets, and third-party infrastructure.

From a product perspective, the FPS audience remains a key factor. Undead Blocks competes not only with GameFi projects but also with a large number of traditional zombie shooters that do not require users to understand tokens or NFTs. Free access without a mandatory wallet reduces this barrier, while Duos, Squads, new maps, a mobile version, and a Battle Pass could expand the gameplay loop if the announced features are fully implemented.

Undead Blocks Season 4 should therefore be viewed as part of the project's ongoing restructuring rather than as an isolated Web3 product. Wagyu Games retains the traditional wave-based FPS foundation while simultaneously updating NFTs, token infrastructure, and the reward system. The game's prospects depend primarily on the quality of new builds, server stability, the size of the active player base, and the developers' ability to turn the announced roadmap into functioning content.
