Anonymous creators of Hamster Kombat: 15 years of experience and a new game concept

Aug 4, 2024

The anonymous creators of the Hamster Kombat clicker game have shared with Wired their plans to create an ecosystem of interconnected games and services centered on the HMSTR token, which has not yet been released.
The developers of the project continue to hide their names and do not communicate directly with journalists for fear of de-anonymization. The Hamster Kombat team currently employs 50 people, and their office is absent - the whole team works remotely.
The founders said that they have 15 years of experience in professional gaming, but did not provide any details. They mentioned that they were engaged in bitcoin mining and trading when the cryptocurrency's value was below 100 dollars.
The idea to create Hamster Kombat emerged in January 2024 on the wave of success of the Notcoin project. According to the developers, the clicker managed to attract 300 million users in the four months since its launch.
The creators noted that for their growth, the only effective solution was to create viral content in the game, as they did not have a budget of 50 million dollars for marketing. They claim that Hamster Kombat has no outside investors, but the project is already generating revenue from advertising within the game, on YouTube and in Telegram. The developers did not disclose specific figures.
In its white paper, published on July 30, the Hamster Kombat team described the upcoming airdrop as “the largest in the history of cryptocurrencies,” but did not specify even the approximate timing of its implementation.

According to the document, 60% of the total HMSTR token volume will be distributed to players, while the remaining tokens are intended to provide liquidity in the market, create partnerships in the ecosystem, and for grants and rewards.
Among the major questions that have been raised about Hamster Kombat are the topics of mass adoption and the potential volatility of the project. Amid the hype surrounding Notcoin and similar projects, the number of active Telegram users has surpassed 950 million per month.
Earlier, the Hamster Kombat project received support from Telegram founder Pavel Durov, who announced the launch of the HMSTR token on the TON blockchain. Crypto exchange Bybit also opened a pre-market for the new coin, and the developers promised to hold a second airdrop.
