Analysts at DappRadar have published a report on decentralized applications and the DeFi sector for January 2024. They noted that the year began with anticipation of the Bitcoin (BTC) halving, which sparked optimism among participants in the Web3 industry. Internal network indicators point to a positive trend.

The number of daily unique active wallets in DeFi (dUAW) reached a new all-time high of 5.3 million, surpassing the peak values of 2022. The number of dUAW in social networks increased by 262%, approaching 1 million. Online games continue to dominate the segment, maintaining a 28% share in the dApps decentralized applications industry.

The total value locked (TVL) in the DeFi sector grew by 7%, reaching $110 billion, the highest level since 2022. The trading volume of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) reached $1.5 billion, with the number of unique traders counting 903.47 thousand.

The popular trading platform Blur leads in NFT trading volumes with a market share of 47%. This platform accounts for only 4% of total sales, indicating that users prefer to buy more expensive assets. The average value of a token sold on this platform is $3260.

OpenSea recorded trading volumes of only 6.6% of the entire market, while the number of transactions is 14%. The average price of an NFT purchased on the platform is just $136. Analysts noted that digital assets worth $41 million were lost by users due to actions of hackers or fraudsters.

The Ethereum blockchain maintained dominance in the DeFi sector, holding 68% of TVL. It was followed by Tron with 7%. An important event is the implementation of the largest update to the Ethereum network since the beginning of 2023 in 2 out of 3 test networks. The update will become part of the Dencun project, which increases the relevance and accessibility of second-layer (L2) solutions.
