Pixels is valued at $2.7 billion after moving to the Ronin blockchain

Feb 24, 2024

The Web3 game Pixels, one of the largest by daily active users, is nearing a valuation of 3 billion dollars after its tokens were listed on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. The PIXEL token is trading at a price of $0.5385, which is a 1246% increase from its initial price of $0.04 on Binance. The project's market capitalization is $2.65 billion. In September last year, the game moved from Polygon to the Ronin blockchain by Sky Mavis studio, due to Ronin's specialized gaming user base.

Currently, 531,850 wallets interact with the game, which is 47.9% more than in the last 30 days. Pixels is a casual adventure game with farming, exploration, land ownership, and NFT usage within the community. However, the in-game token BERRY does not show the same growth as the PIXEL token, affecting its value in game transactions.

After the hack in 2022, the Ronin blockchain restored its token value to pre-hack levels. The total value locked (TVL) in the blockchain also recovered to $214 million, with 99% of the volume on the local decentralized exchange Katana. The Ronin (RON) token was listed on Binance on February 5, but its value fell due to pre-listing accumulation of RON by insiders. Binance will introduce stricter internal controls to prevent information leaks.

Sky Mavis co-founder, Alexander Larsen, stated that the Ronin blockchain would allow the integration of popular Web3 games into Mavis Hub, a platform similar to Steam, for curating games. Larsen plans to implement 16 blockchain games on Ronin this year.
