The Polygon development team zkEVM encountered a technical glitch related to the sequencer's operation due to a reorganization in the Ethereum mainnet (L1). This incident was recorded on March 24, 2024. The glitch only affected the Polygon zkEVM network, which is the sole rollup in the ecosystem, and did not impact the operation of other Polygon projects, including Polygon PoS and Polygon CDK.
The sequencer responsible for the issue is in charge of ordering and grouping transactions before sending them to the Polygon zkEVM smart contract on the Ethereum mainnet. Developers are actively working to resolve the error and promise to provide a detailed report upon completion of the investigation.
User X, under the alias Mirza.inj, noted that the network was unavailable for over 10 hours, causing confusion within the community. If a similar situation occurred with another blockchain network, such as Solana, it would have sparked numerous critical articles.
It is worth noting that in February 2024, the Solana network also experienced a glitch, but after restarting the cluster and updating, it was able to resume its operation.
