Yuga Labs, the creators of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, have taken a significant step in the Web3 domain by acquiring Proof, the company behind the popular Moonbirds collection. Yuga will now incorporate Moonbirds and other Proof assets, such as Oddities, Mythics, and Grails, into its portfolio. These assets will be integrated into the development of the Otherside metaverse. Kevin Rose, co-founder of Proof, will transition to an advisory role at Yuga Labs. This collaboration is considered a key step in expanding Yuga's presence in the digital art world.
In the official announcement, Yuga Labs CEO Daniel Alegre expressed excitement about the merger, noting that Moonbirds perfectly fit into the Otherside game, which includes characters from various NFT projects. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's clear that Yuga views this as an important step in expanding its influence in digital art.
Proof Collective, launched by Rose in late 2021, grew into an NFT-based membership platform offering exclusive events and other privileges, quickly gaining popularity after introducing the 10,000 PFP Moonbirds collection. Despite market downturns and criticism from the community over some decisions, Yuga Labs' acquisition of Proof marks a landmark event, paving the way for growth and collaboration in the Web3 space.
