Development of blockchain games and non-fungible tokens

At the beginning of 2022, the market capitalization of blockchain games was about $25 billion. According to analysts, blockchain games and NFTs have become the most popular destinations in the market. These two categories are merging and creating new projects now.

As an example, consider the game Axie Infinity. Last fall, the price of the AXS token was $150, and the total capitalization exceeded $9 billion. The number of daily users was about 2 million. Despite the fall of Bitcoin in December 2021 and the decline in the value of AXS, the number of Axie Infinity players has grown to 3 million per day.

What are the games?

Blockchain games are presented in various genres, but they are united by a common feature - work on smart contracts. Players can earn virtual assets through strategies, online arenas, sandboxes and more. This genre is called "play to earn" (P2E).

MMORPGs feature a dynamic reward system, where users earn tokens by completing tasks. Received rewards can be exchanged for character upgrades. The most popular games in this genre are CryptoBlades, My Crypto Heroes and Axie Infinity.

For those who love collecting, the Splinterlands, Gods Unchained and Sorare projects are suitable. These games use the NFT system with unique objects. Participants use various strategies to destroy opponents and earn cards.

Another interesting direction is - "X-to-earn". This is a system where you can perform various actions and make a profit. For example, do exercise, walk, shop, study and so on. The most famous project in this genre is STEPN.

The biggest games are in the AAA genre. Major publishers are involved in the development of such applications. This takes a lot of time and money. Such games are distinguished by a vivid gameplay that allows you not only to earn money, but also to enjoy the spent time.

The best example of a AAA game - Illuvium. It was in development for two years and was released in 2022. The price of the Illuvium “ILV” token is $54 and the market cap has reached $560 million.

Previously, Animoca Brands announced a partnership with Liberty Walk to launch a collaborative NFT collection.
