CARV Protocol Gaming Layer is not a standalone blockchain game, but an infrastructure layer within the CARV ecosystem, which was initially focused on gaming data, digital identity, and Web3. The protocol connects users' Web2 and Web3 activity, allows applications to work with data with the owner's permission, and uses blockchain technology for verification and value distribution. Its ecosystem includes CARV ID, the CARV Play gaming platform, a network of Verifier Nodes, the CARV token, and newer infrastructure for AI agents. Therefore, CARV is more accurately described as a technology layer for gaming and AI rather than a standalone GameFi project with a single game world.

1. CARV Protocol: Data Layer for Web3 Games

CARV began developing around the problem of fragmented gaming data. A single player may have Steam and Xbox accounts, social profiles, cryptocurrency wallets, NFTs, and activity histories across different blockchains. These data points typically remain isolated across separate systems and do not form a unified, portable digital identity.

CARV Protocol was designed as a modular cross-chain data layer covering authentication, storage, processing, and data transfer. In gaming, this architecture can connect achievements, on-chain activity, and other verifiable information with a single profile. Applications are expected to access this data with the user's permission.

The project secured significant funding at an early stage. In 2022, CARV raised seed funding with participation from Vertex Ventures, a Temasek-backed venture capital firm. In April 2024, the company closed a $10 million Series A led by Tribe Capital and IOSG Ventures. Other participants included Consensys, OKX Ventures, Fenbushi Capital, Arweave, MARBLEX, and several Web3 investment firms.

At that stage, gaming remained one of CARV's two primary areas alongside AI. However, the term Gaming Layer should not be interpreted as the name of a separate network or game. The gaming direction consists of services such as CARV Protocol, CARV ID, and CARV Play, designed to support portable identity, achievement verification, and data usage across applications.

2. Digital Identity and Gaming Data Management

The identity layer is built around CARV ID, which uses the ERC-7231 standard. This standard extends the NFT concept and is designed to aggregate multiple identifiers and their associated data. CARV ID can connect blockchain addresses with Web2 accounts, including gaming and social platforms.

For the gaming industry, this creates a portable profile. Instead of starting from zero in every application, users can verify specific achievements, roles, and activities. With permission, developers can use this information for audience segmentation, personalization, or access to particular game features.

Key components of the CARV gaming data layer:

  • CARV ID combines a user's Web2 and Web3 identifiers;
  • ERC-7231 serves as a standard for aggregated digital identity;
  • wallets and gaming accounts can be linked to a single profile;
  • credentials can verify achievements and activity history;
  • CARV Play uses data for gaming profiles, discovery, and campaigns;
  • applications can receive permission-based access to user data;
  • Verifier Nodes validate the results of specific protocol operations;
  • TEE and cryptographic mechanisms are used to protect sensitive computations.

CARV Play develops the application layer of this model. The platform emerged as a cross-platform credentialing and distribution layer for Web3 games. Gaming achievements can be represented as verifiable credentials and Soulbound Tokens, while users receive a unified interface for interacting with different projects.

This approach does not mean that CARV owns gaming characters or automatically transfers NFTs between any games. Actual interoperability depends on integrations implemented by individual developers. CARV provides the identity and information layer, while the rules governing data, items, and achievements are defined by individual applications.

3. CARV Play, Verifier Nodes and Protocol Architecture

CARV Protocol consists of several interconnected components. In addition to identity, its architecture includes mechanisms for authentication, storage, and information processing. Operation results can be verified through blockchain technology, while private computations can be performed in environments designed to restrict access to the underlying user data.

Verifier Nodes have an important role in this architecture. In 2024, CARV began distributing nodes to the community, while its Alphanet launched with tens of thousands of purchased verifier nodes. Their role is to verify protocol results, including data processing and operations performed within Trusted Execution Environments.

Verifier Nodes should not be confused with game servers. They do not calculate the physics of a specific game or replace a developer's infrastructure. Their function belongs to CARV's trust layer: verifying attestations, data processing results, and other operations used throughout the ecosystem.

The protocol's technical implementation also uses smart contracts with separate modules for asset management, configuration, and other functions. This modular structure allows the data layer to develop independently of any individual game and enables applications from different blockchain ecosystems to integrate with it.

4. CARV Token, veCARV and Ecosystem Economics

The CARV token was launched on October 10, 2024. Its maximum supply is 1 billion tokens, with no additional issuance beyond this amount предусмотрено by the contract. The initial schedule provides for the total supply to be unlocked over four years following the Token Generation Event.

The largest tokenomics category is Nodes & Community, which receives 50% of the total supply. Another 19.459% is allocated to the founding team and advisors, 9.246% to early investors, 8.295% to private fundraising, 9% to Ecosystem & Treasury, and 4% to liquidity. Within the community allocation, a significant share is dedicated to incentivizing Verifier Nodes.

CARV serves as an economic and governance asset within the ecosystem. There is also veCARV, a non-transferable token created when CARV is locked at a 1:1 ratio. This mechanism is designed for participation in governance and for aligning users' long-term interests with the protocol.

It is important to distinguish the token economy from gaming activity. Holding CARV does not automatically provide ownership rights over games, their revenue, or other users' data. The token's market value depends on demand, liquidity, unlock schedules, and broader cryptocurrency market conditions, while its utility is determined by specific CARV Protocol mechanisms.

Verifier Nodes have their own incentive model. A portion of the total CARV supply was reserved for them and is distributed according to a defined schedule. The token therefore connects users, infrastructure operators, and governance, but it does not turn CARV Protocol into a traditional play-to-earn game.

5. CARV's Evolution from Gaming Layer to AI Infrastructure

As CARV evolved, it expanded beyond its original focus on Web3 gaming. Today, the project is developing infrastructure for AI Beings and autonomous agents while retaining gaming data as one of its key areas alongside AI and DeSci. An important component is the D.A.T.A Framework — Data Authentication, Trust, and Attestation. It gives AI agents access to on-chain and off-chain information, including blockchain activity and user profiles. CARV ID complements this layer with connected Web2 and Web3 identifiers.

Another direction is CARV SVM Chain, an agentic infrastructure based on the Solana Virtual Machine and connected to Ethereum security. Its architecture uses zk technologies and TEE for privacy, while Verifier Nodes validate proofs and attestations. However, some technical capabilities are described in relation to the testnet and should not be interpreted as fully deployed production infrastructure.

For gaming, this evolution represents a shift from a Web3 game catalog toward infrastructure where gaming data can be used by AI systems. Potential applications include personalization, behavioral analysis, and intelligent NPCs, although their implementation depends on integrations developed by individual projects.

As a result, CARV Protocol Gaming Layer can be described as modular identity and data infrastructure that has expanded from Web3 gaming toward AI. CARV ID creates the connected user profile, CARV Play provides the gaming layer, Verifier Nodes participate in operation verification, and CARV supports the ecosystem's incentive and governance mechanisms.
