Kryptomon Season 3 refers to a stage in the development of the Kryptomon blockchain game that appears in the project's official roadmap, although the documentation does not describe a separate standalone release under this name. Kryptomon emerged in 2021 as an NFT game combining creature collecting, virtual pet care, breeding, and turn-based battles. The company was later renamed Pink Moon Studios, while the original game became KMON: Genesis and was integrated into the broader KMON Saga. The ecosystem also expanded with KMON: Pink Moon and World of Kogaea, while its blockchain infrastructure was eventually migrated from BNB Chain to Polygon.

1. Kryptomon Season 3 and the Development of KMON Saga
The history of Kryptomon began in 2021. The concept was built around digital creatures called Kryptomon, which players could own as NFTs. The project combined elements of virtual pet games, collectible games, and RPGs: creatures had to be fed, trained, developed, and used in battles. The early stages of the roadmap included the release of eggs, pet care mechanics, a marketplace, and the subsequent introduction of breeding.
Kryptomon's official roadmap includes Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, and Season 4. However, Season 3 is not described as a separate version of the game with its own confirmed set of mechanics or as a standalone product. Instead, the roadmap reflects the gradual development of a single ecosystem, including PvE, mobile applications, land, Play-and-Earn mechanics, PvP, tournaments, and a transition toward 3D models.
An important rebranding took place in 2023. Kryptomon became Pink Moon Studios, while the gaming ecosystem was renamed KMON Saga. The original Kryptomon game became KMON: Genesis. At the same time, the studio developed KMON: Pink Moon, an application featuring AR mechanics and real-world object discovery, as well as the larger-scale RPG World of Kogaea.
The project's development was supported by external funding. In May 2022, Kryptomon announced a $10 million funding round led by NFX. Other investors included PLAYSTUDIOS, Griffin Gaming Partners, Tal Ventures, and former Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit. Therefore, Kryptomon Season 3 is more accurately used as a historical designation for a roadmap period, while the project's later structure is better understood through KMON Saga and the products developed by Pink Moon Studios.
2. KMON: Genesis Gameplay, Kryptomon and PvP Battles
KMON: Genesis is a tactical RPG in which the player takes the role of a Trainer. The main game assets are Kryptomon, creatures with different genetic parameters, attributes, and elements. Players care for them, train their teams, and use them in PvE and PvP battles.
According to the project, the genetic code of each Kryptomon contains 38 parameters that determine its physical and behavioral characteristics. This system makes the creatures different not only visually: their parameters also affect stats and development. As a result, the in-game value of a particular Kryptomon depends on a combination of genetics, level, training, and its usefulness within a selected team.
Main KMON: Genesis gameplay mechanics include:
- caring for Kryptomon and managing their condition;
- training and leveling;
- breeding creatures and passing on genetic traits;
- tactical turn-based battles;
- Story Challenge with sequential PvE chapters;
- Dojo and other training battle modes;
- PvP through the Battle League system;
- creating armor and upgrades through blockchain crafting;
- weekly quests and in-game rewards;
- trading NFTs and related assets.
In 2023, KMON: Genesis introduced a free-to-play mode. Synthetic Kryptomon became available, allowing users to experience the main mechanics without purchasing an NFT in advance. According to the project's Academy, players can obtain four synthetic creatures and use them in Daily Loot Boxes, Weekly Quests, Game Nights, Dojo, and parts of the Story Challenge.
PvP received a dedicated Battle League structure. It divides players into Stone, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond leagues, each containing several levels. Victories provide Battle Points, while progression is determined through a ranking system. The official roadmap records the launch of Battle League in late 2023 and Season 2 in February 2024; a separate confirmed Battle League Season 3 should not automatically be equated with the earlier Kryptomon Season 3 designation.
3. NFTs, Kryptomon Genetics and the Game Economy
Blockchain technology in Kryptomon is primarily used for digital ownership. NFT Kryptomon can be stored in a compatible wallet, transferred to another user, and used across different products within the ecosystem. Pink Moon Studios developed the concept of interoperability, under which the same digital creature could remain connected to its owner across KMON Saga games.
The economy is not limited to the creatures themselves. It includes items, resources, armor, crafting components, and KMON. In Story Challenge, players gradually unlock more difficult chapters: early levels provide training items and consumables, while further progression can unlock NFT Armor Scraps and opportunities to earn KMON.
| Element | Format | Purpose | Web3 Connection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kryptomon | Digital Collectible / NFT | Pet, progression, breeding, and battles | Blockchain-based ownership and transfer |
| Synthetic Kryptomon | Free-to-play character | Free access to selected gameplay mechanics | Has limitations compared with a full NFT |
| Armor | Game equipment | Enhancing Kryptomon in battles | Connected to blockchain crafting |
| KMON | Crypto token | Economy, marketplace, and rewards | Used within the project's Web3 infrastructure |
| Pink Moon Assets | Digital items | Rewards from AR activities | Connect different parts of KMON Saga |
Weekly Quests are another component of the economy. They consist of a series of tasks with increasing difficulty and can provide standard or premium items and, at certain stages, KMON. This model connects crypto rewards to gameplay activity rather than relying solely on passive NFT ownership.
However, the NFT model does not guarantee an increase in asset value. The price of a Kryptomon depends on the characteristics of the specific creature, player demand, the state of the game, and market liquidity. Even a rare NFT can lose a significant portion of its market value if user activity declines, so in-game utility should be considered separately from investment expectations.

4. KMON Token, Polygon and Web3 Infrastructure
KMON is the main token of the ecosystem. It has been used for the marketplace, in-game rewards, and various operations within KMON Saga. In 2023, the project shifted its internal marketplace from BNB to KMON, aiming to make its native token the primary unit of exchange within the game economy.
Initially, a significant part of Kryptomon's Web3 infrastructure was connected to BNB Chain. In February 2024, Pink Moon Studios began migrating game assets to Polygon. According to the technical documentation, Trainer Hub operates on Polygon following the transition, while NFTs and in-game KMON need to be on this network to interact with the relevant ecosystem functions.
KMON also supported interaction with Ethereum. The documentation describes a bridge between Polygon and Ethereum that allowed the token to move between the two networks. Ethereum was used, among other purposes, for external KMON liquidity, while Polygon became the primary network for in-game operations. The project later reported moving KMON DEX liquidity directly to Polygon and deploying an updated version of the token.
The migration demonstrates that Kryptomon is not its own L1 or L2 network. The project uses existing blockchains and has changed its infrastructure as the ecosystem evolved. For holders of older assets, this creates an additional need to verify the network, current token contract, bridge status, and official project instructions before making transactions.
The KMON economy should also be evaluated separately from the gameplay itself. Play-and-Earn mechanics may distribute tokens for completing tasks or participating in competitions, but reward amounts, market prices, and liquidity are not fixed. Changes to tokenomics, migrations, and decisions to reduce supply can further alter economic conditions for players.
5. World of Kogaea, Ecosystem Development and Risks
Kryptomon's expansion beyond Genesis is primarily associated with World of Kogaea. It is a larger-scale RPG in which digital creatures are transferred into a three-dimensional game world. During 2023 and 2024, Pink Moon Studios held Community Preview events featuring quests, battles, and Dungeons, gradually testing different parts of the project.
During one of the early previews, players explored Bosco Valley, participated in battles, and received related rewards. In 2024, a Dungeons test focused on cooperative gameplay and team strategy. Early Access materials for World of Kogaea later identified Polygon as the network for NFTs, while the game client was announced for Windows and mobile platforms.
Another part of KMON Saga is Pink Moon. It uses a mobile application and AR mechanics to connect virtual assets with the discovery of objects in the physical world. As a result, Pink Moon Studios gradually shifted from a single NFT game toward several connected products: Genesis focuses on pet care, progression, and tactical battles, Pink Moon on AR, and World of Kogaea on a larger RPG environment.
This model involves both technological and economic risks. The ecosystem depends on Polygon and cross-chain bridges, wallet and smart contract security, KMON liquidity, and demand for NFTs. The extended development cycle of World of Kogaea is another factor to consider: previews, early access versions, and announced features are not equivalent to a fully completed game product.
Kryptomon Season 3 is therefore more accurately viewed as part of the project's historical roadmap rather than as a separate modern game. Over several years, Kryptomon evolved into KMON Saga under Pink Moon Studios, adding free-to-play mechanics, PvP Battle League, Polygon integration, AR features, and World of Kogaea. The project illustrates a transition from an early Play-and-Earn model toward a broader Web3 gaming ecosystem, but its long-term sustainability depends on game quality, user activity, demand for NFTs and KMON, and the studio's ability to bring announced products to stable releases.
