This approach turned NFTs from purely collectible objects into elements of a player's gameplay configuration. For example, the team experimented with Gala assets and third-party collections by converting them into themed towers. At the same time, NFTD remained an independent community project, and Gala's publication about the game explicitly separated the team's views from the company's official position.

3. NFTs, GalaChain and Gaming Assets

During GALAthon 2024, the NFTD team expanded its GalaChain integration. One demonstration involved a mechanism that locked NFTs being used during a match. When a player started a session, the relevant assets were temporarily locked by a contract so they could not be transferred to another wallet while being used in the game. The lock was removed after the match ended.

The team also experimented with an in-game token called HOPIA. It was intended to be obtained through resource extractors, with a chance of discovering a larger resource source. In the prototype, HOPIA was used to interact with GalaChain assets, including the Tower of Hopia. These mechanics applied specifically to NFTD and do not confirm the existence of a token or economy for Tower Defense Minis.

The NFTD example demonstrates how blockchain functionality can interact directly with game state: a contract can register the beginning and end of a match, lock an asset, and store certain data for subsequent analysis.

However, the presence of a game on Gala Games does not automatically mean that every item exists as an NFT or that cryptocurrency is required for gameplay. The level of Web3 integration is determined by each developer. Therefore, when evaluating any project, the game client, blockchain assets, tokenomics, and status of relevant contracts should be examined separately.

4. Modern Tower Defense Projects on Gala Games

In 2026, the tower defense genre remains represented in Gala's catalog and publications, although under different titles. In May, Gala introduced City Under Siege by Axtrel Studios. The game revolves around defending a Town Hall against continuous waves of enemies, with players deploying and upgrading turrets, lasers, missile batteries, and EMP generators while controlling the main directions of attack.

City Under Siege follows a survival-oriented structure. Difficulty gradually increases, new enemies and boss waves appear, and player performance can be compared through global leaderboards. This structure retains the classic principles of the genre — resource management, strategic positioning, and defensive upgrades — without requiring assumptions about unconfirmed tokenomics.

Another release is Cybercore Node 99 by AureonGames, officially launched on Gala Games in May 2026. The project combines cyberpunk tower defense with inventory management. Instead of simply placing ready-made towers, players assemble defensive systems from several interchangeable components while managing limited space.

These releases demonstrate that tower defense within the Gala ecosystem is not developing as a single unified series. Fortitude, NFTD, City Under Siege, and Cybercore Node 99 have different developers, gameplay systems, and levels of blockchain integration. They share a common genre foundation, but it would be inaccurate to transfer the features of one project to another.

5. Tower Defense Minis Status and the Evolution of the Genre in Web3

As of 2026, publicly available information does not provide enough evidence to describe Tower Defense Minis as a standalone Gala Games blockchain game. There is no reliable confirmation of its developer, release date, game client, dedicated NFT collection, or token under this name. Creating detailed tokenomics or describing specific Tower Defense Minis gameplay would therefore require adding unverified information.

The closest project in Gala's history in terms of its Web3 concept is NFTD. It demonstrated interoperability in which NFTs from different collections could become playable towers, while GalaChain was used for contract logic and asset locking. Fortitude, meanwhile, represented an earlier officially announced PvP tower defense concept developed by ROUND2.

The current catalog shows further development of the genre through City Under Siege and Cybercore Node 99. At the same time, Web3 is increasingly functioning as an infrastructure tool rather than the mandatory center of every game: developers can use GalaChain for assets and contracts while keeping the core gameplay accessible without direct blockchain interaction.

Therefore, at this stage, Tower Defense Minis is more accurately treated as an unconfirmed name that should not be identified with a specific Gala game without an additional official source.
