MyShell AI is a Web3 platform for creating, publishing, and monetizing AI agents and applications, bringing together developers, users, and participants in the crypto economy. One of the ecosystem's key components is ShellAgent, a modular framework with no-code tools, while Shell Launchpad enables the issuance of tokens associated with individual AI agents. The project also develops open AI technologies, including OpenVoice, MeloTTS, JetMoE, and AIlice. MyShell's economic layer is built around the SHELL token, which has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens and is available on Ethereum and BNB Chain.

1. MyShell AI: Platform for Creating AI Agents

MyShell provides a user-facing layer for AI applications where creators can develop agents, publish them, and interact with audiences through a single platform. Unlike projects that build their own underlying L1 networks, MyShell primarily uses blockchain for economic mechanisms, tokens, and value distribution among ecosystem participants.

The ecosystem is built around several groups: creators develop AI applications, consumers use them, and other participants can support individual products and take part in related economic mechanisms. As a result, an AI agent is treated not only as a chatbot but also as a standalone application with an interface, models, tools, and a potential monetization system.

Creators can work with text, images, voice, and other types of data. MyShell integrates both proprietary and third-party models, APIs, and ready-made workflows. This reduces the need to deploy the entire AI stack independently, as part of the infrastructure is available within a unified application development environment.

By the time SHELL launched in 2025, Binance Research reported more than 5 million users, 170,000 active AI creators, and over 200,000 deployed AI agents within the ecosystem. These figures reflect the scale of the platform at that time, but they do not mean that every published agent is actively used or economically successful.

2. ShellAgent and Infrastructure for Building AI Agents

The primary application development tool is ShellAgent, a modular agentic framework integrated with MyShell. It provides a visual environment for building workflows without requiring users to write code. Creators can combine models, APIs, and tools and then publish the resulting application within the ecosystem.

ShellAgent is available as a cloud-based version and also supports local operation on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Local deployment has hardware requirements, including a suitable GPU. The framework supports the development of chatbot applications and multimodal workflows, including image processing and generation scenarios.

Key technologies in the MyShell ecosystem:

  • ShellAgent — a modular environment for creating AI agents and workflows;
  • OpenVoice — voice cloning technology developed with participation from MyShell and MIT;
  • MeloTTS — a multilingual text-to-speech system;
  • JetMoE — an open Mixture-of-Experts language model;
  • AIlice — an experimental general-purpose autonomous AI agent;
  • AIpp Store — an environment for distributing and monetizing AI applications;
  • Shell Launchpad — infrastructure for launching AI agent tokens.

OpenVoice V2 supports multiple languages and is distributed under the MIT License, which permits commercial use. JetMoE is also part of MyShell's open-source direction: the JetMoE-8B model uses a Mixture of Experts architecture and is designed, among other goals, to make fine-tuning more accessible compared with large closed models.

At the same time, MyShell does not limit developers to its own models. The agentic framework allows different components to be combined, meaning the platform functions primarily as a layer for assembling and distributing AI applications. Blockchain does not perform neural network computations here: inference and content generation remain part of traditional AI infrastructure.

3. Shell Launchpad and AI Agent Tokenization

Shell Launchpad expands the MyShell model beyond a conventional catalog of AI applications. The tool allows creators to associate an AI agent with a separate token and launch it through a bonding curve mechanism. During creation, the agent's name and ticker, description, category, launch time, and tokenomics parameters are specified.

The creator also defines the total token supply, the amount of funds to be raised, and priority purchase parameters. Once the specified bonding curve threshold is reached, the system provides for the token's automatic transition to a DEX. MyShell documentation distinguishes this mechanism from simple trading within the AIpp Store.

Tokenization does not mean that an AI agent becomes fully on-chain. Model code, computation, APIs, and data can remain outside the blockchain, while smart contracts support the economic layer. An agent token should therefore be distinguished both from the AI application itself and from the primary SHELL token.

For users, this architecture introduces an additional layer of risk. The value of a specific agent token may depend on liquidity, speculative demand, and community activity rather than solely on the quality of the application. Reaching the bonding curve threshold or obtaining DEX liquidity also does not guarantee long-term demand for the AI product.

4. SHELL Token and MyShell Tokenomics

SHELL is the native utility and governance token of MyShell. Its maximum and total supply is set at 1 billion SHELL. The token is available on Ethereum and BNB Chain. When it was listed on Binance on February 27, 2025, 270 million SHELL, or 27% of the total supply, was in circulation.

The largest allocation category is Community Incentive, which accounts for 30%. Private Sale represents 29%, Team — 12%, Ecosystem and Treasury — 8.5%, Liquidity — 5%, Binance HODLer — 5%, IDO — 4%, Advisors — 3%, Marketing — 2.5%, and Binance Wallet Airdrop — 1%.

The Private Sale allocation has a one-year cliff followed by linear unlocking over three years. A similar cliff applies to Advisors, while the Team allocation begins linear unlocking over four years after the first year. Community Incentive and part of the Ecosystem and Treasury allocation are distributed gradually over several years.

SHELL functions include payments within the ecosystem, access to selected premium features, creator support, advertising tools, and governance. Community Incentives may be distributed for creating AI applications, completing seasonal tasks, providing liquidity, and other forms of activity. Developers of open-source models used by MyShell applications may also participate in the reward system.

However, SHELL is not equity in the company and does not give holders the right to a fixed share of MyShell's revenue. The token's market value depends on demand, liquidity, the token unlock schedule, and broader cryptocurrency market conditions. As a result, usage metrics for the AI platform and the price of SHELL can change independently of each other.

5. MyShell Ecosystem and the Development of AI Agents

MyShell's development has been financed through several investment rounds. In October 2023, the project raised $5.6 million with participation from INCE Capital, HashKey Capital, Folius Ventures, SevenX Ventures, and OP Crypto. In March 2024, MyShell announced an $11 million pre-Series A round led by Dragonfly, with participation from Delphi Ventures, Bankless Ventures, Maven11 Capital, Nascent, Nomad Capital, and OKX Ventures. This brought the project's total funding to $16.6 million.

The platform's development reflects a transition from a catalog of AI characters and chatbot applications toward broader infrastructure. ShellAgent provides development tools, open models form the technological layer, AIpp Store handles application distribution, and Shell Launchpad adds the ability to create individual markets around AI agents.

This model also introduces several types of risk. AI applications depend on the quality of models, APIs, and computing infrastructure. Agent tokens add market volatility, liquidity risks, and the possibility of speculative behavior. Voice and generative technologies also require attention to copyright, data owner consent, and the potential misuse of synthetic content.

MyShell is therefore more accurately viewed not simply as an AI agent launchpad, but as a combination of an AI creation platform and a Web3 economic layer. An AI agent can operate without neural network computations being executed on-chain, while tokenization is used for payments, rewards, governance, and markets associated with individual applications. The practical sustainability of this model will depend on the real-world usage of created agents and the platform's ability to separate demand for AI services from short-term interest in their tokens.
